The Legend of Cooperville with  Ed Nakfoor, Melonie Jackson and Howard Weinberger

A Loner, Nash Weaver, overcomes his loneliness and isolation finding true friends as he stumbles upon a secret, born in the mists of the Civil War, which threatens to upset the balance of world power.

This is the story of Nash Weaver, a 12 year old skateboarder whose mother has passed.  He has been moved from town to town by his father who is running from his own demons.  Nash has become a loner, unwilling to make friends, fearing the pain of having to be uprooted over and over.

Nash finds himself in Cooperville, a small Southern town, starting another new school and getting acclimated to another new house.  School starts hideously with a scene orchestrated by the class bully, leaving poor Nash a social pariah.  Nash is forced to serve detention, helping fix up the old Historical Museum in town, paired with the last child he would have chosen to hang out with, the ultra geeky Marshall Ota.

Cooperville, however, has its secret.  As Nash explores his new home, which happens to date back to the founding of the town by the mysterious Confederate Colonel Silas Cooper, and as he sorts through material at the museum, Nash begins to uncover the truth behind the town’s legendary treasure.  Along the way, he develops an innocent new romance with confident and athletic Tessa, also a transplant to the town.

As the odd group of Nash, Marshall and Tessa close in on the treasure; dark forces descend upon the town.  Unbeknownst to the children, the treasure they seek hides an even more powerful secret, a mystical coin of power that, in the wrong hands, could throw the world into tyranny.

The back-story of the treasure in this script is based on fact.  The treasure is gold Confederate coins and the dies to strike them.  These coins never made it in to circulation and the few that are known to exist are a “Holy Grail” of American coin collecting, each fetching hundreds of thousands of dollars at auction.

Ark of Time with Ed Nakfoor

The secret of Man's origin becomes the key to his salvation.

Seventy years from now, global warming has become the planet’s most pressing issue.  Sea waters are rising all over the globe as the glaciers melt, and we meet Gray Dean. Gray is an archeologist; an academician who prides himself on being a “hard scientist” in contrast to his famous younger brother Michael, who has a well known and highly rated TV science show that Gray considers to be “fluff”.

Gray laments how he cannot get good graduate students to help him on his back water project now that rising sea levels and global warming around the world have drawn off talent to sexier projects, such as saving the pyramids.

Gray is excavating a Judean military outpost from the time of the Jewish kings.  As the story opens, they’ve made an exciting discovery.  In a hermetically sealed chamber in the desert, they’ve uncovered five gourds, rolled up in which are incredibly well preserved scrolls, of the bible.  These scrolls are 900 years older than the Dead Sea scrolls.  They are essentially the first draft of the bible.

Alan Bishovsky, a linguist translates some of the scrolls and immediately realizes how different they are from today’s accepted version of the bible.  He points out differences to Gray until they both realize that, early in the first book, the story of Noah is dramatically different.  According to this source, people have been looking in the wrong place for evidence of the Ark.

Suddenly the race is on.  With their new fame, financing pours in, and a major expedition is launched with the help of the National Geographic Society, the liaison there being Michael Dean’s (Gray’s brother with whom a jealous rivalry exists) on again and off again girlfriend, Remy.

With Imax cameras rolling, the team finds itself on a secluded mountain.  They take core samples to determine where to dig, and come up with the most unexpected finding; a piece of fossilized modern human femur.  This dates to 150,000 years ago; the time of the Neanderthals and is the first evidence of modern humans on the planet.

Not knowing what to make out of this, the team excavates the entire layer and identifies a mass grave site with 40 well preserved fossilized skeletons.  As they plot this out, Gray sees something glinting in the sunlight.  He examines it.  It is a hand-held computing device, 150,000 years old (carbon dated).

Over the next year, the entire mountain is excavated to reveal a spacecraft that had crashed millennia ago.  The team is able to enter the ship through its breached hull and they find it still has a tiny bit of power.  Wondering through the ship, they find a huge room, like a library, full of drawers.  They pull out drawers and holographic images of animals they’ve never seen emerge with DNA sequences.

When the get to the bridge of the ship, Bishovsky accidentally touches a button and a holographic image of the ship’s captain appears, reciting the final ship’s log.  She is a beautiful woman, speaking in ancient Hebrew.  He translates the message that this ship had escaped global warming and floods on its home planet and had come here, where it crashed.  The survivors were going to stake their claim on this new world.  The hologram’s name is Captain Noehy.  This is Noah’s ark.  Man came to this planet at the time of the Neanderthals.  Over time, in the struggle to survive, the story of our origins became a legend, then a myth, then a bible story.

At this moment, two bored teenaged Soviet soldiers manning a remote missile silo decide they’re going tap the rocket for its alcohol (methanol).  They inadvertently detonate the warhead and cause a major nuclear explosion.  Close to the polar ice cap, the explosion accelerates the global warming on the planet to the point that the whole planet will be under water in 7 years.

The world government mobilizes, but decides to keep the population in the dark to avoid panic.  Michael Dean, however employs a staff of scientists working on his show.  They catch wind of the impending demise of the world and the cover-up.  Meanwhile, the documentary about Noah’s Ark airs.  The government realizes that the ship has worked before; it could save the species once more, if they can get it working.

Michael Dean airs his expose’ of the government’s cover-up.  Already the ecological crisis has begun.  Fractures appear in the brittle harmony on the planet as pressure mounts.  Michael, for his part, seeing the catastrophic events and the position he is in to communicate to the world, starts to believe that he is actually a biblical style prophet.  He leads a pilgrimage to the Ark hoping for some sort of salvation or revelation as he becomes more and more unhinged.  Terrorist groups, too, recognize that the Western way of life is likely to be saved, not theirs.  They converge on the sit of the Ark as well.

At the site of the Ark, Gray and his team bring in energy experts and are actually able to get the Ark working again.  At the climactic moment, just as the Ark is ready to go, colonists, hand picked by the government, arrive to be the ones to represent mankind…the only survivors.  These survivors are not at all sure by what criteria they have been selected.

As they board the Ark, with Michael Dean and his pilgrims chanting, waiting for a sign, the unthinkable happens; a massive explosion erupts.  Terrorist have detonated a warhead and the Ark is completely buried.  All appears lost.

Just then, the Ark bursts from out from its underground burial, and screams into the atmosphere.

Now in orbit, the bewildered and hastily prepared crew of the ship is briefed by the commander.  Gray Dean and Remy (who have developed a love interest) are on board.  The commander tells the crew that they have determined from where the ship originally came.  It has become repopulated over the past 150,000 years.  It is a small planet orbiting a small star at the far end of the galaxy.  The inhabitants of the planet from which man originated, call their star “Sol,” and their planet “Earth”.  The survivors of the planet Gaia are excited to meet their brothers from the home world.
